Nice detail, works well, bit of carpentry with a sharp rasp as an additional bonus, composition gets a bit fragmented with the negative space in the middle

@Willem: Thanks for taking the time:) I see your point with the negative space, my initial idea was to just have the hands with the knife and pencil, but when I saw that the sheath at the top was there, I felt that it brought some depth to the photo, so I croped some more at the bottom in stead.

Sharpening :-) . What's in the upper left corner? Good light on the right hand, not so much on the knife. Probably, the blade and the pencil's tip should be in focus, not the nail.

I remember many years ago sharpening a pencil at my work with my pen knife that I used to carry in my purse and sheer bewilderment of my fellow American colleagues on this decidedly weirdly outdated technique. Real people do it with sharpeners created specifically for pencils ;-) !

I agree about the focus should have been on the knife\penciltip. I should have tried a few more shots, before I called it quits;) I do belive most of the knife is in focus, I shot it with a f5,6(I think), but it became a lot darker\softer in PP, wanted some contrast to it.

Like this a lot. The composition is a little bottom-heavy, but I think the pouch(?) in the background goes a long way to offsetting that.

While this fits the bill in showing "sharp", I feel the real beauty in what was captured here are the hands and their texture. To me, those are the primary focal points.
