Good idea. I wish what's behind would be more identifiable, so TOO shallow DOF
eggplant said 145 days ago:
AnnaG, that doesn't really make sense, but thanks for the input :-)
AnnaG said 145 days ago:
@Matt OK, what I meant is: I am not sure what is behind the chain. Maybe, just maybe, it's two people under one umbrella. Or maybe it's something entirely different. I feel the picture would be better if what is behind the chain can be better identified. And it would be better identified if the depth of field, DOF) would be not that shallow as it is now.
Hopefully, it's more understandable.

Nice Idea.
The composition is blocking my access into the image which I find a pity.
Kolbein said 145 days ago:
The chain and raindrops looks great, the same with the shallow dof. Is it a truck in the background? or maybe just my imagination running away;)
Heath said 144 days ago:
I'm not sure if this is just about a shallow DOF, or if I'm too dumb to see the deeper meaning.
Nice shot, though.

you're gonna get all fives cause i'm bored with this topic.
love this shot, though. really do. totally dig it. so you actually deserve all 5's. how about that?
love the mood. it fits me. :)

it's my old friend mayo. wassup?
don't give a crap what's in the background. that's part of the appeal. mystery is the key to the imagination. reality sucks anyway.

Nice picture!

Ana! Long time no see! It's great to hear from you. Thanks for saying what I didn't want to say, lest I sound snooty. But, yes, of course it's a mystery what's in the background...it's in the eye of the beholder. How does it make you feel? The depth of the field of view in this shot is...well...shallow.
Shallow means a lot of stuff, especially to the artist; it could mean murky, unsure, tenuous.
AnnaG, you strike me as pragmatic sort, needing clear definition...that's all good...you just might not get a lot of that from my stuff.
Thanks to all for commenting; it's fun!

An emotive capture. Love rain drops and hint of umbrella/person. Perfect for this week's theme.
Fred said 144 days ago:
Great use of shallow DOF. The rain drops add to the image, as well. High marks.
Fred said 144 days ago:
I also like that people are guessing what is in the background. Adds to the sense of ambiguity and allows the viewer to fill the gaps and do their own story telling.

There's the love I miss here!!!
eggplant said 144 days ago:
Ana, those are tears on the chain. I'm so glad you're looking deeply into the frame.
Fred, Barbara, Sannes, Kolbein, Heath, Karyobin thank you for the same!
Ana said 143 days ago:
Oh. I know what they are. :)
I got this.
Beamer said 143 days ago:
Not as shallow as some here this week, but OK...I get it...

@lbimaging - It's great to be back! Imagine my surprise one day when I came by on a whim and saw things up and running again...what fun!

@Beamer - my shallowness knows no depths ;-)
