@Kolbein, It's a Wisent, reintroduced to the Dutch dunes. Spotted it this afternoon as part of a small herd.

A very understated image of the lone bison crossing the shallow stream. The lone bison strike me as sad.

This was close to sunset, and a bit hard to turn the Wisent into a more favorable position :-)

There are a couple more over here, also in colour. And in more favourable light, just lacking the 'shallow' bit

One of the rangers of this area is a friend of ours. I hope he'll be able to take us further in and closer some time. These are magnificent animals

These European Bison (Wisent) roam the Dutch Dunes, after being reintroduced here. Imported from Poland where they started reintroducing them into the wild by breeding a couple that were left in Zoos

BTW this is shot with a lower medium end telezoom Tamron 28-300 mm stretched to full length (450 mm full frame equivalent, in low light stabilized with my elbows on my knees... Next time I should bring a tripod....
