Hmm... technically it is very good. I find this to be a highly elegant eye - long lashes, good skin, all that - and reflected in it is an unshaven hiker. Even more interesting is that I can't see YOUR eyes, they're hidden in the shade of the hat.

this is a great image. in terms of fitting the concept of self-portrait, it isn't exactly on the mark. i'm assuming that the fellow reflected in her eyeball is you and that you're the subject of the portrait. since you're somewhat dark and distorted, its difficult to say too much about you, where as much more can be said about the woman in who's eye you are reflected.

the colors and composition are wonderful. blue, yellows, reds work well. the eyelashes are crisp and the control of the depth of field is excellent.

overall, a powerful image, just not the best self-portrait.

yes, you are right about that. it does say something about you, without a doubt. my question is how to consider that with respect to the theme of "self-portrait". perhaps its an accurate portrayal of how you like to be seen, reflected in the eye of this (or a) beautiful woman.

clearly a strong photograph. congrats.
